A new recall worries ice cream lovers in the United States after a product recall was ordered due to a labeling error. This week, the H-E-B Company issued a recall for H-E-B Creamy Creations Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream.

Pay attention when choosing your ice cream on your next trip to the store since H-E-B, a chain of the San Antonio-based supermarkets, has issued a voluntary all-store recall of its half-gallon H-E-B Creamy Creations Light Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream due to an undeclared allergen, according to a press release issued by the company.

According to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the products contain wheat, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

People who have a severe allergy or sensitivity to wheat are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, the FDA said. Filed Under: H-E-B ice cream recall

The company discovered the labeling error when some ice cream cartons were labeled «H-E-B Creamy Creations Light Cookies & Cream Ice Cream» instead of «H-E-B Creamy Creations Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream,» supermarket chain H-E-B said.

H-E-B Creamy Creations Light Cookies & Cream Ice Cream contains wheat as an ingredient. “Anyone who wants to return items can take them to their nearest H-E-B store for a full refund. Customers with questions can contact H-E-B Customer Service at 1-855-432-4438 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST,” the FDA reported. Filed Under: HEB ice cream recall.

The product was sold at H-E-B stores in Texas and Mexico, as well as Mi Tienda stores in Texas. All affected products have been removed from store shelves. No illnesses have been reported to date.

This comes a few weeks after the Enjoy Life company issued a recall of 13 desserts when an internal quality control review found that the cookies could contain pieces of hard plastic. Now, Enjoy Life has expanded the recall to include some cookies sold at Trader Joe’s supermarkets and added some additional expiration dates to the baked goods from the original recall. The company indicated that people who eat any of the affected products are at risk of injury. Filed Under: H-E-B ice cream recall
