Wet paper gets dog pee out of carpet

Don’t let time pass! First of all, the most important thing is to act quickly, applying paper towels to the place where your dog has urinated. Depending on the location, it is recommended to apply this method above and below the carpet. If you don’t have paper towels, you can also use a thick layer of newspaper, placing it on the carpet and standing on it for a few seconds for maximum effect.

Vinegar is one of the most versatile ingredients for the home and one of the easiest to obtain. So if you have pets, it’s ideal to keep a bottle of vinegar in your cupboard so you can prepare a powerful mixture to get rid of the stains and even the smell. To prepare the mixture, experts recommend mixing two cups of vinegar with two cups of warm water and 4 tablespoons of baking soda. This solution should be applied directly to the stain with a spray bottle and allowed to sit for 5 to 10 minutes before blotting with a cloth or paper.

Dry vacuum cleaner

Your next step will be to dry your carpet to make it look like new. But be careful! You don’t want the smell to set from trying to get your dog’s pee out of the carpet. One way to get the stain completely removed without leaving any odor is to use a dry vacuum instead of a steam machine, as the latter could set the odor and stain permanently. If you don’t have a dryer, it’s best to try cleaning the surface with paper towels and warm water.

If you wish, you can also use hydrogen peroxide to get rid of stains and the smell of dog urine on carpets, although this must be added to the previous mixture of vinegar with baking soda. To create a more powerful solution, it is recommended to mix equal portions of water, hydrogen peroxide, a part of dish detergent and baking soda, which will help remove the stain by gently rubbing this mixture on it.

Materials you can use

In addition to paper towels or newspaper, you can use the things you have on hand, such as dishwashing sponges, toothbrushes and conventional cleaners that are easy to get at the supermarket. All this, accompanied by vinegar and baking soda, will be the perfect complement not only to dry stains in record time, but also to prevent the smell from permeating your carpet or room.
