  • Massive recall of frozen pizzas in the United States.
  • More than 156,000 pounds of frozen pepperoni pizza is being recalled.
  • This is the third recall of Pizza John products.

A new massive frozen pizza recall was ordered in the United States. Pizza John’s just announced the third recall in recent weeks of one of its frozen pizzas, according to BGR.

The recall occurred after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) discovered that the frozen food company produced the pizzas in an establishment that did not pass a federal inspection.

Pizza John’s latest recall is also the largest of the last three, as the company has recalled 156,498 pounds of pepperoni pizza. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the move in a press release.

«Pizza John’s, an Essex, Md. firm, is recalling approximately 156,498 pounds of pepperoni pizza products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection,» the USDA said.

According to authorities, the frozen pepperoni pizza products were produced and distributed from March 2020 through July 28, 2022. “The products lack a USDA mark of inspection because Pizza John’s isn’t a federally inspected establishment,” the USDA said.

The pepperoni pizza products that are included in the recall are as follows: 33.25-ounce packages wrapped in clear plastic containing “PIZZA JOHN’S BAKE AT HOME 12 Inch Pepperoni Pizza” with UPC code 9589334921; 57-ounce clear plastic-wrapped packages containing “PIZZA JOHN’S BAKE AT HOME 16 Inch Pepperoni Pizza” with UPC code 958939019.

According to the press release, the recalled products were shipped to retail stores in Maryland. The frozen pepperoni pizza products did not bear the USDA mark of inspection and were produced in a facility that was not inspected by the USDA.

Although no adverse reactions due to consumption of these products have been reported so far, authorities urged anyone concerned about a reaction to contact a health care provider as soon as possible and advised consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them.  Filed Under: Frozen pizza recall ordered in the US
