Isabel Tabares, mother of Daniela Tabares, spoke at the sentencing hearing of her daughter’s killer.

The hearing took place in a Broward County courtroom, with the assistance of a Spanish interpreter.

Yvonne Serrano, 56, was found guilty of second-degree murder.

Serrano was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum of 25 years.

The victim, Daniela Tabares, aged 21, was murdered in 2019.

According to police, Serrano shot Tabares outside her home in Coral Springs.

Tabares had offered to drive Serrano home after a night of drinking.

Tabares’ body was found half out of her car, with a gunshot wound.

Family, friends, and gym members attended the hearing.

A friend described Daniela Tabares as «the best of us» at the gym.

Serrano’s daughter requested clemency from the court.

However, Serrano declined to make any statements in her defense.
