- El Tolín Infante could be released from prison.
- He was arrested in Mexico and authorities issued a travel alert for US citizens.
- Now he could be released for several reasons.
A few days ago Héctor Eduardo «El Tolín» Infante (also known as Luis Édgar Herrera), head of Los Rusos, was arrested in Mexico. As a result, a travel alert was issued for US citizens for fear of confrontations over his arrest, according to Agencia Reforma and Zeta Tijuana.
Currently El Tolín doesn’t have a major criminal record, so he may not receive a long sentence. This could mean he will be free soon and authorities are concerned. However, it is expected that he will be extradited to the US to stand trial.
WHY WOULD EL TOLÍN BE RELEASED?

El Tolín has only been charged with carrying a 9-millimeter weapon, which is why he may not even have to spend a year and a half in prison, something that has drawn the attention of United States and Mexican authorities.
In Mexico, carrying weapons illegally is bond to get you jail time, but it depends on the caliber. In this case, it would only warrant 18 months. The penalty is two to seven years in prison and a fifty to two hundred days fine, but since he has no criminal record, Infante could be released very soon.
HE SURVIVED MURDER ATTEMPT
A few days ago Infante was attacked by an armed group who fired at least 300 shots at him with long guns, while he and his three children, with their bodyguard, repelled the attack with 9mm caliber pistols. Miraculously, El Tolín made it out alive but he was arrested and today he’s imprisoned in Mexico.
Now authorities intend to protect him, to make him pay and to see if the United States requests his extradition as it has done in other cases, such as Joaquín Guzmán. El Chapo is currently serving a sentence for organized crime, along with his wife Emma Colonel. Filed Under: Tolín Free Infante
WHY IS THERE A TRAVEL ALERT IN THE US?

The US government issued an alert regarding the possibility of clashes between criminal organizations and Mexican security forces in Tijuana and Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, after the arrest a few weeks ago of a leader of the Sinaloa Cartel.
“US citizens should expect to find a greater Mexican police presence in those areas,” said the message from the US State Department, which issued the alert so that its citizens don’t travel to that specific area of Mexico. Filed Under: Tolín Free Infante
