FDA authorities announced that products being recalled are sold in various stores including Walmart. So far, two products will be withdrawn from stores and consumers are being told to check their pantries.

It was announced that chopped nuts sold by South Georgia Pecan Co., will be withdrawn from Walmart. Likewise, Rushdi Foods brand salad dressing is also being pulled from shelves, according to The Sun.

According to the FDA, South Georgia Pecan Co. chopped walnuts are being recalled because bags labeled walnuts actually contain pecans. For that reason, the FDA and the company decided to recall them.

“South Georgia Pecan Co. is recalling Great Value Walnut Chopped 4oz. Bags Lot #29329 Best used by April 29, 2023 because bags contain pecan pieces instead of walnuts. This recall was initiated due to a mislabeling issue in which a package of pecans was labeled as chopped walnuts,» the FDA statement said.

According to the FDA, the packaging error made by South Georgia Pecan Co. could cause a problem for people who are allergic to nuts, so they are asked to take extreme care regarding this product.

“People who have a severe allergy or sensitivity to nuts are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. Please refer to the attached product label to help identify the product at the retailer/user level,” the FDA stated.

According to the statement, this specific product has already been shipped to Walmart. The FDA found that from August 8, 2022 and until August 16, 2022, the product was sent to stores. According to the company, the product ended up in the states of: Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“The product was distributed between August 8, 2022 and August 16, 2022. This product was packaged in resealable bags and shipped to select Walmart retail stores located in the states of: Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund or they may dispose of the product.»

Rushdi Foods issued an alert stating that a batch of its Tahini dressing will be recalled. The decision was made after possible Salmonella contamination was reported. The company and the FDA stated that they issued the notice because the product had already been distributed to different Walmarts.
