Vermont Voting Resources: learn about registration deadlines, where do I vote, how can I vote, by mail or in person?

VERMONT
Registration deadlines: In Vermont, there is no specific deadline for voter registration. Individuals can register to vote at any time, including on Election Day itself. However, the Secretary of State’s office suggests that voters who utilize the online registration form should do so by the Friday before Election Day. This recommendation ensures that their names will be included on the voter rolls on Election Day, and only registered voters will receive mail-in ballots.

How can I vote?
By Mail: All registered Vermont voters receive a ballot for general elections by mail. To request a mail ballot, visit the provided link or contact your local election official. Voters can request mail ballots without an excuse, with the deadline for requests being the day before the election. Completed ballots must be received by the close of business the day before the election or by 7 p.m. on Election Day if delivered in person.
Early In-person Voting: All registered voters can vote early in person at the town clerk’s office without needing an excuse, starting 45 days before a primary or general election and 20 days before a municipal election.
Election Day: Polling sites open between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. If you’re in line at closing time, you have the right to vote.
