The world of cinema is in shock following the murder of Víctor Muro Velásquez.
The lighting technician, who worked on the acclaimed film ROMA, starring Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio, was found dismembered in Xalapa, Veracruz.
Muro Velásquez’s remains were discovered in two different locations on Monday, October 7, according to Diario de Xalapa.
“Our friend and teacher Víctor Muro Velázquez [was] a great human being, loved by many fellow filmmakers,” expressed the production company Aluxes.

Muro Velásquez, who collaborated on films like El Crimen del Padre Amaro and El Evangelio de las Maravillas, left a significant mark on Mexican cinematography.
In September, the filmmaker conducted a lighting workshop, where he shared his expertise with film students.
García Jiménez mentioned that one of the detainees is an acquaintance of the victim, working in the same lighting company.
