US Transfers Migrants to Guantánamo

The United States has transferred detained migrants to the Guantánamo Bay Military Base.

The first flight carrying detainees departed on Tuesday, according to the White House.

«We will no longer allow the U.S. to be a dumping ground for illegal criminals,» stated Karoline Leavitt.

The Trump administration has intensified its campaign against more than 11 million undocumented individuals.

The government classifies them as «criminals» and has pledged the largest deportation campaign in history.

More than 3,000 people have been arrested in recent raids across the country.

Trump ordered the expansion of the Guantánamo base to accommodate 30,000 migrants.

The Pentagon has deployed 150 military personnel to oversee operations at the naval base.

U.S. Marines and the Southern Command are involved in the mission.

Trump stated that their goal is to detain the «worst illegal criminal immigrants.»

Legally, living undocumented in the U.S. is a civil violation, not a criminal offense.

Entering the country without inspection is a misdemeanor, while re-entering after deportation is a felony.

Studies reveal that migrants commit fewer crimes than U.S.-born citizens.
