The US government has begun airing a television campaign in Mexico aimed at discouraging undocumented migration into the country.
The commercials, part of a national and international strategy, have been broadcast during primetime hours.
Especially during soccer matches and other high-audience programs on Mexico’s public television channels.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem first announced the campaign in February through a video posted on social media.
Anti-Migrant Campaign Appears on Mexican TV
“We are launching a multi-million dollar advertising campaign nationwide and internationally,” the video begins.
“To warn illegal immigrants to LEAVE our country NOW or face deportation and a permanent ban from returning to the United States,” she declared.

The campaign aims to reinforce President Donald Trump’s message, as he once again adopts a hardline stance on irregular migration as a key part of his political platform.
In the commercials now airing on Mexican television, Noem appears speaking in a firm and direct tone, delivering a blunt warning.
“If you are considering coming to the United States illegally, don’t even think about it,” she says.
“Let me be clear: if you come to our country and break our laws, we will hunt you down. Criminals are not welcome,” she states.
She also thanks President Trump and praises his border security policies, affirming that “the Republican is fulfilling his promise to make America safe again.”
These remarks add to Trump’s ongoing rhetoric.
He has labeled migrants as “criminals and rapists,” and taken controversial actions such as deporting hundreds of Venezuelans to El Salvador.
Upon arrival, those migrants were sent to a maximum-security prison, sparking concern among human rights organizations and legal challenges in US courts.
Last March, Kristi Noem traveled to Mexico, where she met with President Claudia Sheinbaum to discuss migration and security matters.
Following the meeting, the Homeland Security Secretary praised Mexico’s efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and irregular migration control.
She also said she had handed President Sheinbaum a “list of actions” President Trump would like the Mexican government to implement.
These include increased collaboration on border control, joint patrols, and stricter transit requirements for migrants crossing Mexican territory en route to the US.
The anti-migration campaign’s broadcast in Mexican TV has sparked varied reactions on social media.
Some users expressed surprise at seeing Noem’s message during sports events or family programs.
The White House has not released further comments regarding the anti-migration campaign.
However, sources close to the administration claim that more Latin American countries could soon be included in this outreach initiative.
International organizations and human rights advocates warn that such campaigns may fuel stigma and increase the criminalization of migrants.
Meanwhile, immigration policy experts argue that the Trump-Noem strategy could backfire.
As it is spreading misinformation and increasing tensions between the two countries.
Thousands of migrants currently in transit watch with growing concern as rhetoric and policies toughen against them.
The new US television campaign marks an aggressive shift in handling migration.
Using messages that transcend physical borders and now enter directly into Mexican homes, El Universal reported.
