Through U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, a stern measure has been announced, warning that the country will take action against several nations that fail to comply with a mandate.
As part of pressure tactics against Russia, the Biden administration will not allow anyone to supply military materials to Moscow.
Failure to comply with this directive will result in sanctions being imposed on those who assist the Kremlin with machinery. The specific penalties will be revealed next week.
«We continue to take action against the evasion of Russian sanctions,» Janet Yellen began.
US Government Sanctions Against Countries Supporting Russia
«We will be unveiling new, powerful sanctions targeting those facilitating the Kremlin’s war machine, including intermediaries in third-party countries supplying Russia with critical materials for its military,» she specified.
Since Russia began its war against Ukraine, the U.S. government has strongly supported efforts to end the conflict.
Alongside other nations, the U.S. has sought to block Russia as much as possible, according to EFE .
The U.S. has worked to prevent the Russian Armed Forces from accessing technology and weaponry needed to continue the war.
Barriers for the Kremlin
The US, the European Union, and Canada have imposed sanctions aimed at isolating Russia following its attack on Ukraine.
However, Russia has managed to bypass some of these measures by forming alliances with countries like Malaysia, Thailand, China, and India.
In terms of weaponry, the Kremlin has turned to nations such as North Korea and Iran, acquiring various arms, ammunition, and even drones.
So far, Russian President Vladimir Putin has not commented on the new sanctions announced by the U.S.
