Mass deportations in the United States during Donald Trump’s presidency have triggered strong reactions in society.
While some defend the measures as necessary for national security, others view them as manifestations of xenophobia and racism.
One of the recent examples is Newsmax host Carl Higbie, who made mocking comments about the situation on his live show.
The journalist displayed a video where a Latina woman humorously warned that deportations would mean no more tacos and enchiladas for Americans.

In response, Higbie appeared with a plate of tacos on his desk and started eating them exaggeratedly, mouth full and clearly aiming to provoke.
Laughing, he challenged the woman’s claim and stated that no one could stop him from enjoying Mexican food.

He even hinted that he could call ICE, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as he continued his mockery.
“Oh, really? Are you going to come and take this taco from my hand? I’m going to eat half of this plate on my break. Maybe I’ll call ICE, I don’t know if I’ll have enough time,” said Higbie.
“This is really a good taco… These people broke the law, that’s why they have to leave,” the host added.
Carl Higbie’s tone then shifted to a more serious one, accusing immigrants of breaking the law by entering the United States.
He claimed that many of them commit crimes within the country and justified the immigration raids as a necessary measure.
As if his comments on television weren’t enough, Higbie shared the video on his X account, showing no remorse.
Carl Higbie’s clip was posted on both YouTube and on the Instagram profile of Carlos Eduardo Espina.
The post sparked a heated debate on social media, where many users accused him of racism and promoting hatred towards the Latino community.
“He mocks while enjoying Mexican food. Hypocrisy at its finest,” commented a user.
“Never mock another’s suffering,” added another; “Karma will handle it,” another comment read.
“I hope they never have to go through what a migrant goes through,” “They don’t want us but they need us to do their work,” others said.
“Everything in this life gets paid back sooner or later,” “There is so much racism,” “And to think that Americans are the biggest consumers of Mexican food,” others shared.
The incident has reignited the debate about the normalization of hate speech in certain media sectors.
Pro-immigrant organizations have denounced figures like Carl Higbie for contributing to the stigmatization of migrants and increasing discrimination.

Meanwhile, the issue of migration remains a key point in American politics.
Donald Trump has reiterated his intention to tighten measures against undocumented immigrants in 2025.
His rhetoric has fueled anti-immigrant sentiments in the country, further polarizing public opinion.
Despite the outrage caused, Newsmax has not issued any statement regarding their Carl Higbie’s behavior.
The network has been criticized multiple times for allowing radical discourse on its programs.
This incident demonstrates how some media can influence the social perception of migrants and foster hostile attitudes.
The immigrant community continues to face a wave of rhetoric aiming to dehumanize them and justify repressive measures against them.
The debate on migration will intensify, with increasingly extreme positions.
