The Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) of Venezuela has decided to review the documents submitted by political organizations and former candidates following the controversial July 28 election.

«The justices of this Electoral Chamber are taking on the task of examining all the material submitted in both physical and digital formats regarding the massive cyber attack against the National Electoral Council (CNE).»

These were the words of Caryslia Rodríguez, the president of the court and a supporter of the Chávez government, in front of the accredited diplomatic corps in the country. She emphasized that the decision made will be «final.»

This announcement has generated significant anticipation both domestically and internationally, as many are questioning the legitimacy of the official results that declared President Nicolás Maduro the winner.

The magistrate leading the process has stressed that this is a necessary step to ensure transparency.

However, the opposition and several international observers have expressed skepticism, according to Efe.

Edmundo González Urrutia, the candidate of the main opposition coalition, the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD), has refused to participate in this process.

González Urrutia argues that the TSJ will act in favor of the Chávez government, tipping the scales in Maduro’s favor.

According to him, the review is merely a formality to legitimize an already completed fraud.

Nicolás Maduro, for his part, has defended the electoral process and asserted that the review is a testament to the strength of Venezuela’s institutions.

The president also accused the opposition of attempting to destabilize the country through unfounded accusations.

The international community has reacted cautiously to the TSJ’s announcement.

Some governments have expressed concern over the lack of transparency in the electoral process, according to Swissinfo.

Organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS) have called for the review to be conducted with the utmost impartiality.

The «validation» process has become a point of contention between the Chávez government and the opposition.

While the Venezuelan government claims it is a tool to ensure legality, its critics see it as a mechanism to keep Maduro in power.
