The President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, issued a stern warning on Tuesday regarding the situation in the Middle East.
Trump stated that if Hamas does not release the hostages before his inauguration on January 20, «hell will break loose in the Middle East.»
«It won’t be good for Hamas, and frankly, it won’t be good for anyone. Chaos will erupt,» said Trump from his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida.
During the press conference, Trump was joined by Steve Witkoff, his future special envoy to the Middle East.
Witkoff Highlights Key Progress in Negotiations with Hamas and Expresses Optimism for Hostage Release
Witkoff stated that negotiators are making «significant progress» in talks with Hamas.
The diplomat expressed optimism, saying that they are «on the verge» of finalizing an agreement for the release of the hostages.
«I am hopeful that, by inauguration day, there will be good news to announce,» Witkoff added.
He credited the progress in negotiations to Trump’s «reputation» and influence in the region.
«The President and his words have pushed this negotiation forward, and I hope we can save some lives,» said Witkoff.
Trump had previously made similar warnings during his presidential campaign.
