U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to negotiate a new nuclear agreement with Iran.
He stated that he seeks a «verified» pact that would allow Iran to prosper without developing nuclear weapons.
Trump denied reports about an alleged plan to destroy the Persian nation.
«I want Iran to be a great and successful country, but without nuclear weapons,» he wrote on Truth Social.
Trump Insists on a Peace Agreement with Iran and Warns of Repercussions
The president emphasized that he prefers a peace agreement and called for immediate negotiations.
He stated that once the deal is signed, «a great party in the Middle East» would be held.
His comments come after he warned that if Iran attempted to assassinate him, the country would be «annihilated.»
In November, the U.S. reportedly thwarted an Iranian plot to target Trump.
Iran responded by stating it has no issue with guaranteeing that it will not develop nuclear weapons.
The Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed that differences could be resolved through diplomacy.

Trump previously imposed a «maximum pressure» policy against Tehran during his first term.
The U.S. withdrew from the 2015 nuclear deal, significantly damaging Iran’s economy.
Since then, Iran has increased its uranium enrichment to levels close to military-grade use.
