The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has suggested that he could support the deployment of European troops in Ukraine as part of a peace agreement between this country and Russia.
This Tuesday, during a meeting in Paris, European leaders explored this proposal, which Trump described as «a beautiful gesture» if respect for the current truce is guaranteed.
«If you want to do that, great. I am totally in favor. If you want to do that, I think it would be fine,» he said at a press conference Trump clarified that in no case will he deploy US troops.
The initiative was discussed at a summit convened by French president Emmanuel Macron.

The objective was to design a European strategy to the peace negotiations by the United States in relation to Ukraine.
«I would not oppose at all,» said Trump, who pointed out that he would not correspond to the United States to display his forces because Ukraine «is far away.»
However, the opinions of European leaders are divided with respect to the immediate shipment of peace troops to Ukraine.
They look for a peace agreement
While some countries such as the United Kingdom and France were open to the possibility.
Others expressed reservations about the practicality of such action before a peace agreement between Moscow and Washington is finalized.
President Trump stressed that both the United Kingdom and France have discussed the option to deploy European troops in Ukraine as a preventive measure to ensure compliance with any future peace agreement.
This movement, according to Trump, would be a significant gesture towards the stabilization of the region.
On the other hand, Russia has expressed its firm opposition to the possible deployment of European troops in Ukraine, according to EFE.
Russian Foreign Minister Serguéi Lavrov described the idea of »unacceptable», arguing that the European countries involved are all NATO members.
This position reflects Russia’s concerns about the expansion of Western military influence in its area of direct influence.
