The deportation policies of President Donald Trump in the U.S. have a 59% approval rating among Americans, according to a YouGov poll conducted for CBS News.
Meanwhile, 41% of respondents disapprove of these measures.
Trump emphasized during his first days in office that «hundreds of criminal illegal immigrants» had been deported.
According to the president, these included members of Tren de Aragua and Mara Salvatrucha.
Deportation Actions and Public Support in Trump’s First Week
During his first week in office, immigration authorities arrested 2,382 undocumented immigrants.
Additionally, 1,797 arrest warrants were issued for individuals eligible for deportation.
At the polls, most U.S. voters—especially Trump supporters—endorsed his mass deportation program.
According to the poll, 64% of respondents support sending troops to the U.S.-Mexico border.
However, 52% oppose the creation of large detention centers.
The same poll found that 69% of respondents describe Trump and his immigration policies as «tough.»

Trump’s overall job approval rating stands at 53%.
The poll was conducted among 2,175 U.S. adults between February 5 and 7, 2025, with a margin of error of ±2.5 points.
At the end of January, Trump’s initial approval rating as president was 47%, according to a Gallup poll.
This figure is similar to the 45% approval he received at the start of his first term in 2017.
However, it remains lower than that of any other U.S. president since 1953, according to the survey.
Support for Trump’s deportation policies reflects a divided landscape among voters.
While the president’s supporters praise his decisive actions, opponents warn about the negative impact of these measures on immigrant communities.
Tensions between both sides continue to rise with each new action and statement from the administration.
In his first week, Trump stressed that his government was fulfilling a key campaign promise: to tighten immigration policies.
Trump’s rhetoric on criminal immigrants has been a constant theme in his discourse, aiming to reinforce law and order.
However, critics argue that this narrative unfairly generalizes millions of immigrants who have committed no crimes.
