U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged on Monday that he has «no guarantees» that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip will hold.

Amid growing uncertainty over the stability of the agreement between Israel and Hamas.

«There are no guarantees it will hold. I’ve seen people mistreated like never before. No one has ever seen anything like this. No, I have no guarantees that peace will last.»

The president made these remarks while speaking to the press from the White House.

During his exchange with journalists, Trump emphasized that «Israel is certainly a small country in terms of territory,» comparing its size to his «wonderful pen,» while contrasting that the Middle East would be the size of his desk.

The U.S. president is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this Tuesday in Washington, according to EFE.

During the meeting, both leaders are expected to discuss the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which includes the release of all Israeli hostages still held in Gaza.

After his remarks, Trump handed the floor to his envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, who has been identified as a key figure in negotiating the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Doubts Remain Over Gaza Ceasefire

«It is holding so far, and we certainly have hope. That is the president’s order: to get the hostages out, save lives, and hopefully reach a peaceful resolution to all of this,» Witkoff stated.

This marks the second time Trump has expressed doubts about the feasibility of the ceasefire in Gaza.

Additionally, the president has suggested that both Egypt and Jordan should take in Gaza refugees— a proposal that could spark tensions in the region.
