Tito Jackson dies: eternal legacy of the Jackson 5

Tito Jackson, a beloved member of the iconic pop group Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70.

Tito was the third of the nine Jackson siblings, including global superstars Michael and Janet.

“With heavy hearts, we announce that our beloved father, Tito Jackson, is no longer with us,» his sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll said in a statement.

The Jackson 5, composed of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael, rose to fame in the 1970s.

Their music remains beloved today, with hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “I’ll Be There.”

The group, formed under the guidance of their father, Joe Jackson, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Tito, born on October 15, 1953, was the group’s guitarist and one of the backup vocalists.

Michael Jackson, the «King of Pop,» passed away in 2009 at the age of 50, a devastating loss for the family.

In 2014, Tito shared that Michael’s absence was still deeply felt during the group’s performances.

Tito launched his first solo project in 2016 with the album Tito Time.

Just days before his death, Tito visited a memorial to Michael Jackson in Germany with his brothers.

Tito is also remembered as a devoted father to his three sons, who formed the musical group 3T.

The Jackson family is mourning the loss of Tito, a man they described as someone who “cared deeply for everyone and their well-being.”
