In the midst of the incessant fight against violence and organized crime in Mexico, the state of Guerrero is once again the scene of an alarming situation.

Police and their families were shocked by the disappearance of three brave journalists in Taxco de Alarcón, a municipality whose name is now making headlines.

To everyone’s dismay, it is believed that these individuals were kidnapped.

The first go missing was Marco Antonio Toledo Jaimes, director of the local weekly Espectador de Taxco.

A Sunday that should have been ordinary turned into an unimaginable horror for Marco Antonio Toledo Jaimes and his family.

Criminals broke into his home to kidnap him, but they didn’t stop there.

They also took his wife, Guadalupe Denova Flores, and his son Alberto, plunging the community and their loved ones into a state of despair and fear.

In the disturbing labyrinth of the disappearance of the three brave journalists from Taxco de Alarcón, the tireless search to find clues and answers intensifies.

The State Attorney General’s Office, in its effort to solve this mystery, has activated three missing persons cases, according to EFE.

These files only indicate the last time the missing persons were seen in Taxco, on November 19, and the date on which the complaint was filed — November 22.

Julissa Arce reported on Thursday that armed men kidnapped her sister Nayssa Arce and Alberto Sánchez Juárez, who run the news site Redsiete.

The Mexican-American activist also explained that the journalists’ children, ages 3, 5, and 13, were abandoned on the street after their parents were kidnapped.

So far police do not seem to have initiated investigations into these two kidnappings.

The organizations Article 19 and Comunicación e Información de la Mujer A.C. (Cimac) are collaborating on a response.

Organizations committed to defending freedom of expression and the press rights have raised their voices in an urgent call to the authorities.

With a resounding demand for justice, they have urged the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Delitos contra la Libertad de Expresión (Feadle) and the State Attorney General’s Office to initiate an investigation.

They are rigorously applying the Protocolo Homologado de Delitos contra la Libertad de Expresión.

They also asked the government of Guerrero to coordinate the necessary response to find the missing journalists.

This comes a week after the murder of the Mexican photojournalist Ismael Villagomez in Ciudad Juárez, on the northern border of Mexico.

In the past year, Mexico has lived up to its reputation as one of the most dangerous nations for journalists.

Four professionals jounalists have been murdered as a result of their work according to Artículo 19.

According to this organization, known for its tireless defense of freedom of speech, the state of Guerrero is one of the most dangerous areas.

It is the federal entity with the fifth highest number of attacks on journalists and media outlets in the country.

Since 2009, a total of 425 attacks have been documented, a devastating panorama that highlights the constant danger to journalists.
