  • Mitos y leyendas shares with you another version of a story about the Great Spirit and the creation of the world.
  • In every culture, this type of story varies, but they all bring us something wonderful.
  • The message of this narrative is worthy of reflection.

In a remote time, unknown to all living creatures, the Great Spirit looked around and found an absolute void.

There were no colors, no beauty; only the darkness and silence of the abyss. A vast space devoid of any sign of life.

Determined to transform this desolation, the Great Spirit summoned his power to create the sparks of creation: lesser spirits to assist him in his task.

The first thing he shaped was the sea and the sky, infinite and blue, serene and deep. Yet, he did not feel satisfied.

Then, he instructed the spirit Tolba, the Great Turtle, to emerge from the waters and transform into the land.

Upon the turtle’s back, the Great Spirit molded mountains and valleys, painted white clouds in the blue sky, and rejoiced. “Everything is ready,” he declared, “now I will fill this space with the vibrant movement of life.”

However, just as the other spirits were busy finishing the creation, the Great Spirit halted his hand.

He pondered what kind of creatures would populate his new world. Where would they reside? What would be their purpose? He wanted a perfect plan, and his mind worked tirelessly until, exhausted, he fell into a deep sleep.

In his rest, dreams spread over his creation. He saw strange creatures: some crawling, others walking on all fours, some flying with wings, and others swimming with fins.

The earth was covered with plants of every imaginable color. Insects buzzed, dogs barked, and birds sang.

But something seemed amiss, and the Great Spirit feared he had had a bad dream. He could not conceive of such an imperfect world, devoid of balance.

Upon awakening, he found a beaver building a dam beside him. Then, he understood that his dream had become reality.

Everything he had imagined had materialized. He watched the beaver complete its dwelling and, with it, create a pond for its family.

It was then that he realized that balance lay in each being having its place and purpose in the fabric of time.

This legend comes from India and is passed down from generation to generation with the aim of conveying that dreams are the world of our creations.

Mitos y leyendas bids you farewell for now and hopes that the story of the creation of the Great Spirit and its creation has been to your liking. Until next time!
