After two initial shots and the candidate falling, numerous more shots are heard and chaos erupts among the attendees at the political event.

Guerrero Governor Evelyn Salgado expressed her feelings on social media following the attack in which the candidate lost his life.

«I strongly condemn the regrettable events in which the candidate for mayor of Coyuca de Benítez lost his life,» she said.

«To clarify this cowardly crime, I have asked the Prosecutor’s Office to conduct the relevant investigations,» added the governor.

As of now, the state Attorney General’s Office has not confirmed whether there were any arrests or additional people affected after the shooting, according to ‘López Dóriga’ news portal.

This assassination occurred during the last day permitted by the electoral authority to carry out campaign events.

Violence against candidates has increased close to the end of electoral campaigns in Mexico, with several cases of attacks on candidates reported.

Ricardo Arizmendi Reynoso, substitute candidate of the opposition coalition PRI, PAN, and PRD for the mayoralty of Cuautla, was also assassinated.

Gilberto Palomar, mayor on leave and candidate for mayor of Encarnación de Díaz, Jalisco, was the victim of an attack and hospitalized.

In another incident, according to CNN en Español, the vehicle of mayoral candidate for Chalco, Eduardo Díaz, was also shot at.

Electoral violence in Mexico continues to escalate, creating an environment of uncertainty and danger for candidates and their supporters.

Authorities are continuing to investigate these incidents and have promised measures to ensure justice and security in the electoral process.

However, tension and fear persist among the population, who are watching with concern the development of political events in the country, as pointed out by ‘López Dóriga‘.

Elections in Mexico have been marked by violence, and the death of José Alfredo Cabrera underscores the urgent need to take more effective measures.

In order to protect candidates, their teams, and attendees at events, and to ensure an electoral process free of violence, as reported by ‘CNN‘.
