Kidnapped Televisa journalist freed
According to reports, Jaime Barrera Rodríguez was rescued safe and sound during the early hours of Wednesday, March 13th, in an operation by the National Guard.
Itzul Barrera, the journalist’s daughter, took to her social media to confirm that the reporter from Televisa’s Channel 4 in Jalisco is now safe.
The journalist’s daughter expressed her confidence that her father would return home and thanked all the people who supported her throughout the process.
«My dad is back with us. My heart knew he would always come home. Thank you to everyone,» reported Itzul Barrera through X, before Twitter.
The role of the National Guard
It was reported that the National Guard rescued journalist Jaime Barrera Rodríguez alive after an operation.
However, in an interview with Televisa’s Channel 4, Jaime Barrera dismissed that it happened that way, according to the portal of ‘SDP Noticias’.
But the journalist did confirm that agents of the corporation assisted him after being released by his captors.
He indicated that the National Guard provided support at the entrance of the municipality of Magdalena and that the assistance since then has been total.
Jaime Barrera breaks the silence
«At the entrance of Magdalena, I was fortunate that National Guard elements arrived there and provided assistance when I had already been released,» he said.
«But the support has been total since that moment,» Jaime Barrera added to his statements according to the ‘SDP Noticias’ portal.
It was reported that the journalist will have to see a doctor for a general examination after being deprived of his freedom.
Likewise, it is expected that he will also be able to give a statement to the public prosecutor’s office. It is worth noting that he was found in the municipality of Magdalena.

The Mexican journalist lost his freedom entirely last Monday, March 11, when he left the radio station where he works, as reported by the outlet ‘La Silla Rota’.
Upon leaving the vicinity, at least five individuals intercepted him and forcibly put him into an unidentified vehicle.
