Roberto Correa’s story begins when he arrives in this country and the first thing he feels is that it’s not as easy as some people suddenly think it is to find a job.

He recounts that it’s been about 30 years since he arrived in the United States and initially, he had to look for work to be able to eat.

The first thing he did was car cleaning, and it worked for a couple of times, but his true destiny would come with his family and their business.

It was a small kitchen. The owner was his uncle, and Roberto couldn’t help but observe how everything related to this Mexican food business was done.

However, due to certain circumstances, Roberto’s uncle had to sell his small business, and he lost his job.

The good thing is that thanks to this experience, he already knew what he liked to do. An opportunity arose when a casino was about to open nearby.

Without much thought, he went there and asked if there was a job he could do, and the chef hired him and explained what he would have to do.

His tasks were limited to sticking labels on the products they used to prepare the dishes, and that’s how he gradually learned the English concepts related to this industry.

With some experience now, a coworker told Roberto that a hotel was looking for cooks, and they even said the pay was better.

Roberto goes to this place, and they welcome him to the team gladly. The owner talks to him and tells him he has to learn to speak English and go to school, and that he would support him in this.

For this, he sends him to another chef, and he supports him with what the other had told him, and Roberto goes to school and progresses well in the subjects.

He keeps advancing, and thanks to that, he is given a position as a kitchen supervisor. However, something made him feel like he wasn’t quite complete. He returns to his homeland and opens a restaurant, but even that didn’t feel quite right.

He returns to the United States and continues to prepare himself. He gets another job in the same industry. Over the years, he is appointed executive chef, and he feels that his life is changing in ways he never thought possible.

Roberto receives comments from people who encourage him to open his own restaurant, and this idea doesn’t seem bad to him.

This is how his restaurant, Beto’s Tacos, begins to operate. At first, the restaurant had modest sales, but now they exceed even the thousands.

At this moment, he feels completely grateful to his team and supports them as much as possible because he says that thanks to them, this restaurant is what it is.

Finally, Correa offers a few pieces of advice. The first is to be careful with the so-called comfort zone, as it is dangerous and somehow stagnates you.

Sometimes, what’s safe is what prevents you from growing. Therefore, assuming risks is necessary if you want something different.
