The story of Octavio Esteban López begins in Guatemala. He worked in agriculture in his home country and says he had to learn to speak Spanish because his family spoke a dialect.

Unfortunately, his father passed away when he was ten years old, and his family’s economic situation became increasingly difficult, but he wouldn’t give up because of this.

He recounts making five trips to reach the United States, and it was extremely difficult and exhausting. This was almost 20 years ago and it cost him around seven thousand dollars in total.

His first destination was Alabama, and regarding his work history, he recounts the following.

First Jobs

His first job was at a site that dealt with wood used for homes and furniture making. He worked there for approximately two years before moving to another state.

When he arrived in Atlanta, an uncle helped him by giving him a job. He was paid more than a hundred dollars an hour for the work he did.

In this job, he was involved in installing cables and lights in houses, essentially doing electrical installations.

Less than a year ago, he felt he wanted to do something on his own. That’s when he decided to work for himself using the skills he had learned.

Business

To start working for himself, he had to invest in transportation and gradually acquire tools to be able to do more and more jobs.

He says he now feels he is on the right path and tells everyone who doubts that it is possible to achieve something good.

He says he now earns much better than at the beginning, and this is the result of not giving up. He also says he is happy to be able to speak a dialect to help others.
