Sonia Loja strangled her 3 children before hanging herself in Danbury, Connecticut

TRAGIC MURDER-SUICIDE! Police found four dead, including three children, inside a house located in Danbury, Connecticut after receiving a chilling 911 call on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 27, according to various media reports.

Police responded to the house, located on Whaley Street, at 6.30pm on Wednesday after receiving a phone call from a distraught, sobbing man. Three children between the ages of 5 and 12 were found dead inside the house according to The Sun.

Tragic scene: Four dead

While inspecting the property, officers made another heartbreaking discovery in a shed in the backyard of the house, where they found the body of a woman. The mother was identified as 36-year-old Sonia Loja. The children were  Junior Panjon, 12, Joselyn Panjon, 10, and, Jonael Panjon, 5.

According to Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour, the incident appeared isolated and there was no immediate threat to the community as of Wednesday night. “Our evidence teams are here, they are processing the scene,” he told News 12.

“It is an extremely difficult moment”

The State Attorney and his inspector also went to the site of the tragedy in the Connecticut town. “And they’ll be talking to any neighbors and any possible witnesses and getting some background on the victims and talking to family members.,” Police Chief Patrick Ridenhour said.

There is an ongoing investigation and it is in its early stages as of now. “It’s a really extremely difficult time for many of the officers, especially those who had to go inside,” Patrick Ridenhour said, referring to the dramatic scene.

Police are not looking for suspects

“We are ensuring their mental health and well-being is being taken care of at this time, as well,” said the police chief about the responding officers. As of early Thursday morning, July 28, no suspects had been named, although police said they were not actively looking for anyone, The Sun reported.

News 12 reported that police believe the three children were strangled and the mother hanged herself. It was also not specified who called 911 in anguish or if he is related in any way to the incident that has shocked the community and the officers.

Commotion in a quiet neighborhood

NBC Connecticut also spoke with a neighbor who said he had not heard anything out of the ordinary on Wednesday when the bodies were found. «At 5 o’clock tonight, I was watering my flowers and nothing. Nothing looked like suspicious was going on or anything,» resident Tom Neville said.

Shortly after, Tom Neville saw a rush of officers and ambulances arriving at the house. In this normally quiet neighborhood, the terrible incident has left some on edge. “Not as comfortable as I’d like to be. Again, knowing the neighborhood the way we do, it’s a surprise to see anything,» added Tom Neville.
