Santiago Ramírez Prieto, son of renowned Chilean actress Lorene Prieto, was found with both hands amputated in a family home in Ñuñoa, Chile.
The incident has shocked the country, as the victim’s mother is a well-known figure in national television and cinema.
The 37-year-old man was found alive on the second floor of the house, while his hands were discovered on the lower floor.
Lorene Prieto filed a report at the 33rd Police Station in Ñuñoa regarding her son’s disappearance, as he suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.

Carabineros proceeded to the residence located near Crescente Errázuriz and República de Israel.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a highly disturbing scene with significant amounts of blood throughout the house.
Captain Carlos Castillo Vega, from the Criminalistics Department (Labocar), indicated there was no preliminary evidence of third-party involvement.
He also confirmed that the victim had suffered the amputation of both hands, though no hypothesis is currently being ruled out.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the OS9 and Labocar units to investigate all possibilities: from an accident to self-inflicted injuries.
Santiago Ramírez Prieto was stabilized and transferred to Hospital del Salvador to receive urgent medical care.
Lorene Prieto, mother of the victim, has had a distinguished career on Chilean television and has also appeared in various film productions.
