Hunter Biden, son of the U.S. President, could be sent to jail if found guilty in a trial that began this Monday.
Joe Biden’s son is accused of lying about his drug use on a form for the purchase of a .38 caliber Colt Cobra revolver.
The incident occurred in October 2018, and in addition to omitting his drug use, he kept the form for 11 days.
This is the first time that a son of a sitting president is being tried, and it could impact Joe Biden’s election campaign.
Hunter Biden’s Trial Begins
According to Agencia EFE , at the time of the 2018 incident involving the purchase of the gun, Hunter Biden was going through a difficult period.
He was dealing with depression following the divorce from his ex-wife Kathleen Buhle, and he was addicted to crack, according to his memoirs ‘Beautiful Things’ published in 2021.

This Monday, the trial against Hunter Biden began, and the arrival of First Lady Jill, accompanied by several family members, was surprising.
However, President Joe Biden issued a touching message for his son in this difficult moment, as he could face jail time if found guilty.
The President’s Words for His Son
Through a statement, Joe Biden issued words for his son Hunter at the start of his trial in Wilmington (Delaware).
«As president, I do not and will not comment on pending federal cases, but as a father, I have unlimited love for my son, confidence in him, and respect for his strength,» he began.
And his message was not as a leader: «I am the president, but I am also a father,» while expressing his love for Hunter and pride in him.
«Hunter’s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery inspire us. Many families have loved ones who have overcome addiction and know what we mean,» he concluded.
Complicated Situation for President Biden’s Son?
District Judge Maryellen Noreika in Delaware rejected Hunter Biden’s defense request to delay the trial to seek more witnesses and review evidence.
She also blocked one of the experts and dismissed a crucial piece of evidence for Hunter.
And this is not the only trial Biden’s son will face, as he will face another in California.
In that case, he is accused of evading payment of $1.4 million in taxes.
