«Squatters stole her car and they brought it back over here to drive it in the driveway,» stated Mel Keyton, president of the Hampton Oaks Homeowners Association.

Keyton highlighted the impact such crime has on the community.

The quick police response was crucial in ending the illegal occupation at 4300 Caveat Court.

The vice president of the Hampton Oaks Homeowners Association, Kendra Snorton, expressed concern about how long they had been there.

Snorton emphasized the importance of community surveillance to prevent such incidents in the future, according to Atlanta News First.

Keyton commented that they hope laws will make it easier to remove squatters.

«‘Hopefully, it won’t get this bad. Hopefully, we won’t have to use this amount of police,» Keyton remarked.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently signed the Georgia Illegal Occupants Reform Law in response to situations like these.

Authorities say they need more tools for combatting this problem.

The South Fulton police told the Daily Mail that the squatters had been living there for months but were finally arrested when they stole the car.

This highlights the importance of cooperation between the community and authorities to ensure residential security.

The National Rental Housing Council revealed that approximately 1,200 homes in the Atlanta area have experienced similar situations.

This underlines the need for more effective measures to prevent and address illegal occupancy in various communities.

The arrest of a squatter in Cobb County, who had occupied the home of a deceased man, exemplifies the challenges associated with illegal occupancy.

Keyton said that he hopes the new law makes it easier to remove squatters and that it’s no longer necessary for them to commit crimes like vehicle theft to be arrested.

The new legislation makes illegal occupancy a misdemeanor, with fines and jail penalties established to deter those attempting to illegally occupy vacant properties.

«The recovery of the stolen car marks a success for the police and a relief for the neighbor,» a police spokesperson told the Daily Mail.

Moreover, ongoing collaboration between the community, authorities and watch groups is crucial to effectively address the challenges associated with illegal occupancy.

This would also help to ensure the protection of property rights throughout the region.

Residents can maintain a safe and secure environment if they work together.
