It all happened in room 304, after the guest overstayed their room occupancy time.

On November 30, 2022, authorities found no significant evidence linking the victim to any collective-interest organization.

It only emerged that he worked as a valet parking attendant at a local casino and lived in Hialeah.

As days passed, González’s murder became a matter of national security due to his alleged connection to an international drug cartel and a shipment of methamphetamine.

The agents’ hypotheses were confirmed on April 11 during the arrest of Jimmy Sánchez in San Diego, California.

Sánchez, who Narcotics officials from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) had been tracking for his alleged ties to Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Los Chapitos, now faces a first-degree murder charge, according to court documents.

He is currently in custody at TGK without bail.

With the alleged perpetrator behind bars, information began to leak about the motives and those who purportedly participated in planning the Cuban’s murder.

According to information published by Univisión, the events leading to González’s death allegedly began to unfold a few weeks after he apparently lost a shipment of methamphetamine that he was supposed to deliver to third parties in Florida.

The package, as reported by the media, was sent to the home of some of González’s neighbors in Miami Springs.

However, the shipment was intercepted and seized by the DEA, and González was never able to recover it.

Following this incident, Sánchez met with Tsvia Kol, the «former wife of Wilfredo Nunes Gallardo, another high-ranking member of the Sinaloa cartel,» in Hallandale. It is said they decided to meet with González.

Detectives apparently recovered social media conversations with Julio González. They agreed to meet in the morning at the Aladdin Motel.

This is where Jimmy Sánchez allegedly surprised González and killed him in what is described as an execution-style murder.

Investigators believe that González already suspected his fate. Days before he was shot, he reportedly posted a photograph, supposedly of Kol, with a message stating that if anything happened to him, he held that woman responsible.

Apparently, detectives removed it shortly after the homicide.

Despite the police resolution of the crime, the concern within the community revolves around the presence of the drug cartel in Miami and its potential repercussions on the security and harmony of the neighborhoods.

According to the Department of Justice, the Sinaloa Cartel maintains operations in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and Chicago.

Its expansion into another state is a cause for alarm among law enforcement agencies.
