This is none other than Gabriel Gabriel García Márquez, who approached a young Shakira who was just starting out in the music industry.

Through a video published on social networks, the Colombian shared the story of how she met the emblematic writer.

The video was published through the Instagram account of Service 95, the publishing platform belonging to the British singer Dua Lipa.

«We met when I was only 21 years old, because he wanted to interview me and write an article about me, something that I never understood,» the Colombian revealed in the video.

She noted that it was from that first moment that she and the writer became close, while he was looking for a story to write.

The journalist also asked the Colombian woman to tell him a story, and if she didn’t give him one he would make it up, he joked with her.

Closeness to García Márquez

«From then on, we were very close, I remember that when we met, in our first meeting, he told me to tell him an interesting story,» Shakira said.

«And I said, ‘But about what?’ To which she responded, ‘Tell me anything, if you don’t tell me, I’ll make it up,'» the singer added with a smile on her face.

Gabriel García Márquez was a renowned journalist, as well as an emblematic author of literature who managed to write important stories throughout his life.

The writer would have had faith in Shakira’s talent, being present in the first steps in the Colombian’s career, asking to write about her.

«He was very obsessive with his work, he could edit his books up to 9 times. And that reminds me of me when I’m in the process of creating music,» she said about the late writer.

She also admitted that she felt happy to have worked on the musical theme ‘Hay Amores’, belonging to the film ‘El amor en tiempos de cólera’.
