Shakira released her new album Las Mujeres Ya no Lloran, a journey through the vast landscape of Latin American pop.

This comes after a period of catharsis marked by a bitter breakup and cheating rumors that have had an impact on her music.

The Colombian singer held a release party on Thursday at at the Hard Rock Hotel in Miami, Florida.

«To the Shakira who started making this album, I would say, look to the future, because what’s coming is very good,» said the singer at the presentation of her new album.

Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran is marked by her difficult split from the father of her children, former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué.

Shakira describes this album as «a conversation» with her fans.

With ‘Última,’ as she has announced that she is putting an end to devoting songs to her breakup with Piqué.

A wide variety of musical genres

Shakira’s new album features reggaeton, bachata, ballads, EDM, electro and synth-pop, corridos tumbados sierreños, as well as urban and trap.

However, in her four solo tracks, she returns to her musical essence.

In some cases, she also showcases heartbreaking lyrics and sounds, plus the pop-rock that fans who have followed her since her first album have missed.

Her twelfth album is conceptual and it developed organically, according to the singer herself.

‘I hope you make this album yours’

It is also a record about the stages that a broken heart goes through and how it recovers.

«I hope you make this album yours and it helps you transform pain into strength, as it helped me,» Shakira said.

It is worth noting she has already received seven platinum records for the tracks released since 2022.

The singer described this project as a «testament to resilience, empowerment, and the beauty of feminine strength» at the event at the Hard Rock Hotel.

Does Las Mujeres Ya No Lloren have a hidden meaning?

Although it is unknown if the order of the songs has a meaning, it is clear that the Shakira is focusing on the present.

The first eight songs are new ones, starting with ‘Puntería,’ a collaboration with rapper Cardi B.

Then comes ‘La Fuerte,’ another collab with Bizarrap.

The eight songs that were already out appear in chronological order of release.

‘A she-wolf like me isn’t for guys like you’

One of the new songs on this album is ‘(Entre paréntesis)’ with Grupo Frontera, a band created in Texas in 2019.

The album closes with an electronic remix of ‘BZRP: Music Sessions Vol 53’ by Dutch DJ and music producer Tiësto.

It’s a triumphant sound from someone who went to hell and came back better than ever, once again taking ownership of that war cry for betrayed women:
