Average high temperatures in Sin City have been colder than those recorded in Minneapolis, the site of the 2018 Super Bowl.

This climatic twist adds an unexpected element for visitors, who were expecting warmer, sunnier weather.

Football fans planning to attend the Super Bowl may need to pack their umbrellas along with their jerseys and hats.

Although some sunshine is expected, high temperatures will reach just under 50 degrees Fahrenheit, while overnight lows will dip into the low 30s over the weekend.

«Super Bowl weekend has always been a large visitor weekend for Las Vegas regardless of where the game has been held,» said Brendan Bussmann, director of government affairs for Las Vegas-based Global Market Advisors.

It’s an abrupt change that has caught visitors accustomed to milder weather in Las Vegas by surprise.

These weather conditions could have an impact on the Super Bowl and on the local economy.

According to research firm Applied Analysis, in 2019 the Super Bowl  attracted 310,000 visitors to Las Vegas, generating an estimated economic impact of $425 million.

The unusual weather raises the question of how adverse conditions events could affect the flow of tourists and spending in the city.

Bussman predicts that the number of people expected to arrive in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl could break records.

«It may end up being a record-breaking crowd of Super Bowl attendees to a destination,» he said, according to Fox Weather.

However, uncertainty could influence attendance and planned activities, leading organizers to keep a watchful eye on the ever-changing forecast.

For NFL fans planning to explore other areas of Clark County, Nevada. It is important to note that avalanches are a potential risk north of Las Vegas.

An avalanche was reported Monday about 35 miles northwest of Las Vegas at the Lee Canyon Ski and Snowboard Resort. Four people were reported missing, but were later found.

Likewise, Lee Canyon was closed due to extreme winter weather conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday.

«Increased snowfall will create very dangerous avalanche conditions, hazardous to anyone near deep and unstable snowpack,” the National Weather Service said.
