Air fryers recalled due to fire and burn risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a recall of Secura air fryers.

Secura, the company behind the recall, is withdrawing one of its products from the market due to the risk it poses to consumers.

This recall comes after the company received multiple incident reports related to the affected air fryers.

In response, they have issued a consumer alert and provided guidelines as instructed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall involves Secura air fryers, specifically the SAF-53D (TXG-DT16E) model.

They also indicate that this model bears a date code of 1901.

Additionally, another fryer, model number SAF-53 (TXG-DS16), with date codes 1903 and 1904, is also included in the recall.

The affected units are described as black with silver details, with the brand name, Secura, on the top of each unit.

Likewise, it has been reported that the model number and four-digit date code are printed on silver labels.

These labels, bearing the aforementioned information, are located at the bottom of each unit.

Another characteristic to note is that the fryers measure approximately 12 inches in height, 11 inches in depth, and 12 inches in width.

In light of the air fryer recall, both the company and the CPSC have provided guidance on the steps to take for those who own one.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has urged consumers to cease use of the recalled fryers immediately.

They should contact Secura to obtain a $45 Amazon gift card.

Alternatively, they can choose a free replacement from products listed on the Secura website.

To qualify for these refund options, consumers must adhere to several steps outlined by the CPSC.

To receive either the gift card or a replacement product, consumers will need to provide their contact information.

Moreover, they are required to send photographs of the recalled product, showing the power cord cut.

Additionally, they must include information on the product date code, located at the bottom of the item.

A purchase receipt is not necessary to receive a replacement product, while Secura is reaching out to all known purchasers.

The recall was initiated after the company received reports of incidents related to fryer malfunctions, according to the CPSC website.

They indicate that the company has received nine reports from consumers about fryers that have caught fire, burned and emitted smoke.

However, at this point, no injuries or property damage have been reported as a result of the fires in the fryers impacted by the recall.

The product was available for purchase online at Thesecura.com and Amazon.com from May 2019 to October 2020, priced between $48 and $90.
