A macabre discovery shocks a community in Colorado after authorities reported that they located human remains of a child.

This has led police to reactivate the search for two young Hispanic children who have been missing for six years.

The trail of Jesús and Yesenia Domínguez was lost in the summer of 2018, when he was five years old and she was three.

Police did not explain whether the remains could belong to Jesús and Yesenia Domínguez. However, they are trying to locate the children as part of the investigation.

Human bones were discovered inside a metal container with hardened concrete three weeks ago.

They were found at a storage facility in the 600 block of West 6th Street in Pueblo, the Pueblo Police Department said in a statement on their official Facebook account.

Officers received a call at 8:37 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, and responded to the Kings Storage Center.

The person who made the gruesome discovery showed officers the place where the barrel was found.

«The victim in this incident will be identified by the Pueblo County Coroner after appropriate notifications are made. The Pueblo Police are investigating this case as a homicide,» the official report states.

The murder investigation was undertaken by the local police Special Victims Unit and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit.

So far they have not disclosed any information about the progress of the case in the last 21 days.

No further details on the missing children

Police have not provided further details about the search for Jesús and Yesenia Domínguez.

«Yesenia Dominguez was approximately 3 years old when she was last seen, and she would currently be 9 years old,» police stated.

«esus Dominguez was approximately 5 years old when he was last seen, and he would currently be approximately 10 years old.»

So far, police have interviewed two people of interest in the case but have not shared more information.

The investigation into how the human remains wound up in the storage unit is ongoing.

There is limited information about the children or the discovery of the bones.

Colorado detectives have requested help from the community in order to determine what happened.

Anyone with information about the children that may be helpful to the investigation is asked to call Detective Nicholas Lile at (719) 601-7751 or the police dispatch line at (719) 553-2502.

People have begun commenting on social media about lack of publicity surrounding the disappearance of Jesús and Yesenia Domínguez.

«2018 without cartels in the city or news reports, this would be hell and everyone would know,» Kirsten Ries wrote on Facebook.
