The federal trial for Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump, has been postponed until September 2025.
This was confirmed by recent court documents.
The trial, originally scheduled for February 10, 2024, was delayed following a request from Routh’s defense, which argued the complexity and magnitude of the case.
Federal Judge Aileen Cannon agreed to the request and set the new trial date for September 8, 2025, in Fort Pierce, Florida

The defense explained that additional time was needed to review a large amount of evidence, including information extracted from 18 cell phones, three desktop computers, three tablets, and five hard drives, among other devices.
Routh, 58, was arrested on September 15, 2023, at a golf course owned by former President Trump, near West Palm Beach.
According to reports, a Secret Service agent discovered him hiding behind some bushes with a semi-automatic rifle.
When spotted, he fled the scene but was arrested later that same day.

The accused pleaded not guilty on September 30 to the five charges he faces, including attempted assassination of a presidential candidate, possession of a firearm to commit a violent crime, and assault on a federal officer.
If found guilty, Routh could face a maximum sentence of life in prison, as reported by EFE.
In addition to the federal charges, Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody filed an additional charge against Routh.
This was over a traffic accident that occurred during his escape, in which a six-year-old girl was seriously injured.
