- Facing Possible Life Sentence
Ryan Routh, accused of attempting to assassinate Donald Trump at a golf course in Florida, has requested to postpone his trial until December 2025.
According to a court document obtained by EFE, the defense argues that the case involves an «extraordinary volume» of evidence, making it difficult to meet the current schedule.
The trial is currently set to begin on February 10, 2025, but Routh’s attorneys believe this date jeopardizes his right to due process.
The request for postponement has been submitted to Federal Magistrate Judge Aileen Cannon by defense attorneys Kristy Militello and Renee Sihvola.

The defense claims they need more time to review evidence, including data from 18 cellphones, three computers, three tablets, and five hard drives.
Prosecutors have shown a willingness to allow a «reasonable extension,» but they oppose delaying the trial until December 2025.
Ryan Routh, 58, was arrested on September 15 at a Trump-owned golf course, armed with a semiautomatic rifle.
He fled the scene after being discovered by a Secret Service agent but was apprehended the same day.
