“All my life has been one big negotiation, and I know when people are bluffing and when they’re not,” Trump told reporters.
“I sense a genuine enthusiasm to end this war. I think I see it—on both sides.”
When asked whether he believed Russia might be acting deceptively, Trump responded:
“I don’t think either side is doing that.” He added that he expects an official response from the Kremlin “this week” regarding a ceasefire proposal.

“We’ll see if we get there. I really think we have a good shot, and it’s reaching a critical moment,” he said.
However, Trump stopped short of confirming whether the U.S. will continue sending military aid to Ukraine, regardless of how the talks unfold.
The remarks come as part of a broader diplomatic effort to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Diplomatic Meetings Led by Marco Rubio
rump’s comments follow high-level meetings in Paris, where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff met with delegations from France, Ukraine, the U.K., and Germany to discuss the status of the conflict.
According to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, Rubio conveyed Trump’s “hopes” to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte that the peace proposal will be accepted.
Bruce noted, however, that the U.S. may “step back” from its role if no progress is seen soon.
