Rubén Elijah Rodríguez was captured in Houston, Texas after he attempted to kidnap a young girl at gunpoint.

Several law enforcement agencies in the Houston metropolitan area were needed to capture the man after he abducted the 14-year-old girl.

The 25-year-old is now in a cell in the Harris County Jail, awaiting his criminal trial.

Case documents detail that the Hispanic man is charged with aggravated kidnapping, among other crimes.

According to the Texas Penal Code, the crime of aggravated kidnapping is punishable by five to 99 years in prison for those found guilty.

On Thursday, August 15, 2024, a distraught father flagged down a patrol car to stop in the middle of the street.

An officer from the Harris County Precinct Six Constable’s Office stopped his patrol when he saw the desperate man in the neighborhood.

A Hispanic man revealed to the officer that his daughter had just been kidnapped at gunpoint by a young man who also threatened him with the weapon.

According to the man, his 14-year-old daughter had been forced to go with the man in front of the house marked with the 1200 block of N. Cesar Chávez Boulevard.

The desperate father’s story was dramatic, as when the alleged kidnapper took the girl, he threatened to shoot her parents.

Amid the chaotic kidnapping, the girl’s father memorized the license plates of the car in which the kidnapper sped away through Houston.

Based on that, the patrol officer searched his database for information associated with the license plate, and the name Rubén Elijah Rodríguez appeared.

Alarms went off for all law enforcement agencies in Houston, and several patrol cars went out to search for young Rubén Elijah Rodríguez.

An officer from the Harris County Precinct Four Constable’s Office spotted Rodríguez’s car heading north in Houston.

During the chase, the Hispanic man released the kidnapped girl in front of 2805 Navigation Boulevard and continued his escape.

The distance between District Four and District Six in Houston is at least ten miles. The former is in the north of the city and the latter in the east.

The swift action of the police prevented the kidnapping

Somehow, Rubén Elijah Rodríguez managed to cross from District Six to District Four without any authority seeing him after the kidnapping.

However, details on his car’s license plate were already in all the patrol cars of the law enforcement officers in the Houston metropolitan area.

One of those officers from the Harris County Precinct Four Constable’s Office blocked Rodríguez’s path to detain him.

Case documents have not yet revealed why Rubén Elijah Rodríguez chose that girl to kidnap or what his intentions were with her.
