«I want to tell people not to worry anymore. They put in a filter of mine not as an old woman, I am old, as a mummy, as if they had dug me up in Egypt,» said Saralegui.

«So I was old, in a wheelchair, sick… No,» the presenter made clear, challenging the speculations that have tried to tarnish her image.

«I’m going to tell you the truth: I’m not an alcoholic, I’m not a drug addict, I’m not broke,» the presenter added about what has been said about her.

«Does it make sense?, with everything I have worked for in my life, that we, who owned 3 television studios, are going to be bankrupt?» she asked.

After many years away from the spotlight, Saralegui, who was the star host of El show de Cristina for 21 years, currently leads a quiet and private life.

«I don’t go out much,» she confessed, revealing the most intimate side of her daily life in the comfort of the Univision program broadcast.

On the morning show, the charismatic communicator also addressed the topic of her family and how her children flee from fame.

However, she highlighted the situation of her son Jon Marco, who has faced a mental health disorder since her adolescence.

«That child was so, so, so sick,» said Saralegui when seeing a series of photos of her son on the screen where he looked happy in the company of her and his father.

It was in a previous interview with Despierta América in 2014 when Cristina Saralegui spoke openly about the mental health diagnosis that Jon Marco received when he was 19 years old.

The presenter shared the difficult experience of realizing her son’s situation: «I found out what Jon Marco had when Jon Marco was 19 years old.»

«(I said) ‘there is something strange here but I don’t know what it is’ and he tried to take his life, and then I realized that it wasn’t that he was depressed,» she said at the time.

The presenter said that it was in 2014 that she realized «that there was something bad and ugly going on,» but she didn’t know what to do because she didn’t know what her son had.

«So what my son did was, look what my son is like, he got in his car, drove to the hospital that is on the corner of my house, went to the psychiatric floor and he just signed himself in and stayed there,» she revealed. .

Even though Jon Marco’s mental health disorder has no cure, Saralegui shared the good news that her son is currently in good condition.

This is thanks to the specific treatments he has received to treat the disease that has tormented him for several years.

«My son is doing so well, thank God,» Saralegui told the Despierta América presenters after they asked about him.

«And I thank the Lord for how Jon Marco is doing well after so many years with a bipolar disease, that people don’t know what it is,» she said.

A testimony of improvement that highlights the strength of the family in the face of adversity.
