This comes as part of President Emmanuel Macron’s efforts to seek a fresh start for the rest of his term.
Attal, at the age of 34, gained prominence as the government spokesperson and minister of education, according to The Associated Press.
His predecessor, Elisabeth Borne, resigned following a recent political dispute over an immigration law.

He has Tunisian roots

Originally from the Clamart, Ile-de-France, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal was born on March 16, 1989. In a few weeks, he will turn 35.
He is the son of a renowned lawyer and film producer, as well as an employee of a production company. He is of Tunisian and Alsatian Jewish descent.
Attal studied at the Alsacian School and the Paris Institute of Political Studies, where he was a member of the Socialist Party.
