U.S. President Donald Trump launched a fresh attack against federal judge James Boasberg, who recently blocked his attempt to carry out summary deportations under a law dating back more than two centuries.

Trump accused Boasberg of being politically biased and compared him to Judge Juan Merchan, who presided over Trump’s 2024 criminal trial.

“This judge is almost as compromised (actually, not even close!) as the judge whose daughter made millions representing Biden/Harris against me, while her father oversaw a fake case and refused to recuse himself. He should be disqualified!” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social.

During that 2024 trial, Trump referred to Merchan’s daughter as his “enemy” and demanded the judge recuse himself—an action rejected by prosecutors.

In his latest tirade, Trump criticized Boasberg’s March 15 decision to block the use of the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law last used during World War II.

The law allows for the immediate deportation of foreign nationals without judicial process if deemed a threat during times of conflict.

Trump had invoked the law hours earlier to expel immigrants—primarily Venezuelans—claiming that many were affiliated with the criminal gang Tren de Aragua.

Despite the court’s ruling, three flights departed from Texas that same day carrying over 200 Venezuelans to El Salvador, where they were handed over under accusations of gang affiliation.

The Salvadoran government accepted their imprisonment, raising concerns about whether the Trump administration ignored Judge Boasberg’s injunction.

In his post, Trump also shared a link to a Just The News article claiming Boasberg attended a conference in Idaho sponsored by groups known for anti-Trump views.

The conflict escalated to the point that Chief Justice John Roberts stepped in to admonish Trump’s attacks.

Roberts reminded the public that the appropriate response to a judicial disagreement is through the appeals process—not by publicly attacking judges.

Judge Boasberg, for his part, stated on Friday that he will “get to the bottom” of whether the government violated his court order.

The judge expressed concern over the potential misuse of the Alien Enemies Act by a sitting president.

This latest episode reflects Trump’s hardline immigration stance, as he continues to claim the U.S. is being “invaded” by the Tren de Aragua gang.

The case has reignited the national debate over the separation of powers and the judiciary’s role in checking executive authority.

Trump’s statements have sparked controversy in both political and legal circles and may have consequences for his ongoing bid to return to the White House.
