- A massive drug bust at Mexzarella Pizza.
- Police seized $4 million worth of drugs.
- It was a massive drug trafficking operation.
Mexican pizzas were not the only thing that three men at Mexzarella Pizza offered as a main dish.
According to authorities, the restaurant was used as a front to distribute drugs in the Bronx.
An undercover operation on Soundview Avenue ended with the seizure of more than 100 pounds of drugs.
They found cocaine, fentanyl and heroin, valued at $4,000,000, the New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor’s Office reported on its Facebook account.
They cooked more than pizzas at Mexzarella Pizza

DEA special agent Frank Tarentino reported in a statement: «This drug trafficking organization was cooking up more than pizza in the Bronx.»
«The large stash of cocaine found in the basement of Mexzzarella Pizza is very significant because it had the potential to supply drug networks throughout the Northeast,» he added.
Unusual activity in which shopping bags were being brought in and removed from the pizzeria alerted the undercover agents who were monitoring Soundview Avenue.
The officers carefully followed every move the three suspects made and the result has alarmed the community.
Three men were arrested

Those whose children attend nearby PS69 public elementary school were particularly disturbed.
The first to be arrested was Alexander Francisco Samboy. He left the establishment with a heavy package, got into a car and left the area.
A few miles away, police stopped his vehicle and when they searched the silver Subaru Impreza with a Connecticut license plate, they found five kilos of what is believed to be cocaine.
Police also arrested Gaudencio Rosendo Pérez and Zulema Cárdenas Espinoza near the pizzeria.
Police found over 100 pounds of drugs

Pérez and Espinoza were arrested after surveillance units saw Pérez filming license plates on Soundview AVe.
When the DEA raided the restaurant on October 19, the agents found 42 kilograms of suspected cocaine.
They also found a kilogram of heroin and fentanyl, as well as 1,000 glassine envelopes of oxycodone and fentanyl.
However, that was not all, as large rocks of cocaine and around 100 vials of crack cocaine were also recorded.
The three men operating the drug ring must now face justice

Finally, about $40,000 in cash was found, the prosecutor’s office said. Pérez, Espinoza and Samboy appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court.
They face charges of possession of a controlled substance in the first and third degree.
The judge decided preventive detention for Pérez, while the other two men had bail set at $150,000 each.
«This successful narcotics investigation resulted in the shutting down of a major drug trafficking organization in the Bronx,» said the commissioner of New York Police Eduard Caban.
