- Donald Trump’s pick to lead the defense department.
- Here the details.
Fox News host Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick to lead the Department of Defense in his next Cabinet, is under pressure again.
This after the leak of a police report that offers new details about a sexual assault investigation against him.
The 22-page document, provided by the Monterey, California, City Attorney’s Office, details the statements of a woman who accused Hegseth of sexually assaulting her in 2017 at a hotel in the city.
According to the woman, Hegseth held her against her will in the hotel room during a Republican women’s meeting, took her phone and assaulted her even though she repeatedly asked him to stop.

The Monterey Police Department confirmed earlier this month that Hegseth was investigated in connection with this case, but the investigation was closed without further explanation.
However, when the woman threatened to press charges again three years later, Hegseth reached a confidentiality agreement with her, lawyers told the Washington Post.
In the agreement, the woman withdrew the complaint in exchange for a sum of money, although neither the amount nor the woman’s identity were revealed.
In response to the allegations, Hegseth said Thursday: «The matter was thoroughly investigated and I was completely cleared. «I’ll leave it there.»
Hegseth’s appointment is questioned
Every single word of this is nauseating. Anyone defending the actions of Pete Hegseth is a despicable human being who cares nothing about the safety of women. https://t.co/xBGqGS4ek0

Hegseth’s appointment to the Pentagon has been strongly questioned due to this case, which adds to a series of scandals surrounding figures close to Trump.
The leak of the report coincides with the withdrawal of the candidacy of Matt Gaetz, another of Trump’s nominees, who was under investigation for alleged sexual abuse of minors.

The controversy surrounding these appointments puts even more pressure on Trump’s future cabinet, which must still be validated by the Senate.
Trump’s transition team remains undefined several key positions in his second term, including the secretaries of the Treasury, Labor and Agriculture, while investigations into figures around him continue to be a topic of debate in Washington.
