It was 10:30 p.m. when the officer was patrolling along Commercial Boulevard in Chippewa County, according to his arrest report.

The officer found it peculiar to see a truck parked in front of Aldi so he stopped, unaware it would be a «high-risk traffic stop.»

As the officer approached, the driver of the red Chevy S10 accelerated, initiating a pursuit that stretched across Wippewa and Trempealeau counties in Wisconsin.

A press release from the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office states: «A high-risk traffic stop was conducted with the assistance of the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office, Trempealeau County Sheriff Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.»

The report outlines that a registration check revealed the plate expired in 2011 and had an associated expired registration.

Officers from the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol joined the pursuit of the suspect.

As detailed in the official report, due to the driver’s refusal to stop, authorities decided to deploy tire deflation devices, which were set up along Trempealeau.

In the initial encounter with Anthony Ledesma, officers observed that the driver «showed signs of impairment and had an open bottle of whiskey in the vehicle,» as stated in the official report.

Upon verifying the driver’s identity and the origin of the truck, the officers discovered that the Chevy was reported stolen in Milwaukee.

The driver had an extradition order for a serious offense in California for obstructing/resisting an executive officer.

The situation escalated for Ledesma when he refused to undergo sobriety tests.

He had to be taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital after officers obtained a blood draw warrant against him.

After the medical examination, Ledesma was placed under arrest for knowingly fleeing from an officer, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated – second offense, and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.

Following the arrest, the defendant was taken to Chippewa County Jail for processing.

A date for his bail hearing is awaited.

Meanwhile, officers are awaiting the results of the blood analysis from the Wisconsin State Hygiene Laboratory to add to Ledesma’s criminal record.
