Entre Madres y Doctoras: Bedwetting accident
Something completely normal during childhood is peeing on the mattress, but it can also happen when you least expect it.
- Among mothers and doctors, they talk about pee on the mattress.
- This stage might be long past, but the word prevention is key today.
- This story is to make us more alert at certain times.
Hello to all the moms and dads listening to us. Today we bring you a real story from a mom, a recent experience that Edith had with her son, and surely many of you can relate.
As you know, Edith’s children are sick this week, and as mentioned in previous episodes, her son stopped wearing diapers about six months ago.
They sleep in underwear, and until now everything had been going very well. But, as they say, for every mom there is a story or a blunder, and this time the «momfail» stars her.
It turns out that Edith’s son woke her up in the middle of the night with a phrase no parent wants to hear: «Mommy, I peed.»
Pee on the Mattress
And she, confident that there was no longer a need to put protectors on the mattress, hadn’t put anything. Mistake!
So in the middle of the night, she had to get up and clean the mattress, wash the sheets, and everything that had been affected.
Her son ended up sleeping in Edith’s bed because his mattress was wet and she wanted to clean it with a damp cloth, but the fever seemed to bother his skin.
Edith’s son kept asking to take a bath, so at midnight, she had to rush to wake up her husband to take him to the bathroom.
Prevention
What they finally did was put him in the shower entirely. Fortunately, they managed to resolve the situation, and the little one fell asleep again.
The lesson Edith learned from this momfail is the importance of having something waterproof on the mattress, like protectors or even waterproof covers.
No matter how much we trust that our children will no longer have accidents in bed, it’s always better to prevent. Once it happens, you realize that you no longer have a mattress in condition.
So she recommends everyone have several mattress protectors on hand. We don’t want to learn this lesson through our own mistakes over and over! Has anyone else had similar experiences? Share your stories and tips with Entre Madres y Doctoras in the comments! #MomFail #MomExperiences
