A mother of three, Amanda Hovanec, 37, has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the murder of her husband, Timothy Hovanec, in 2022.

In addition to prison time, Amanda must serve 10 years of supervised release and pay more than $2.1 million in restitution.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, Amanda’s relationship with her husband had grown increasingly strained over time.

The Hovanecs, who had three children, moved several times due to Timothy’s work with the State Department.

According to True Crime, after returning to the United States, Amanda Hovanec filed for divorce in 2020.
Since then, she began obstructing Timothy’s visits with his children, disregarding a court order that allowed him visitation.
In April 2022, after Timothy Hovanec filed multiple contempt motions, he was granted visitation rights.
However, following a weekend visit during which Timothy returned the children, he was reported missing.
Authorities found Timothy’s car abandoned in Dayton, raising concerns.
Investigators reviewed dashcam footage showing Timothy returning his children on April 24, 2022.
Authorities reported that Amanda injected her husband with M-99, an extremely potent anesthetic roughly a thousand times stronger than morphine.
This type of anesthetic is commonly used in veterinary and zoo settings.
Prosecutors alleged that Amanda had considered killing her husband for a year, contemplating various methods, including hiring a hitman.
She ultimately chose to inject him with M-99. Amanda initially attempted to conceal her crime but eventually admitted to injecting her husband with “poison.”
After Timothy’s death, Amanda Hovanec disposed of his vehicle and buried his body in a wooded area.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office also stated that Theodorou, her lover, supplied the substance used in the murder and helped conceal the body.
Anthony Theodorou pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import and distribute a controlled substance resulting in death and received an 18-year prison sentence.
He was also ordered to pay more than $2.1 million in restitution.
The case has left the community shocked, highlighting the complexities of family relationships and the tragic impact of personal decisions.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to continue investigating and pursuing justice in similar cases.
This event underscores the devastating consequences of family violence and the importance of seeking help in crisis situations.
Amanda Hovanec and her accomplices will face the repercussions of their actions for many years, noted True Crime.
