Former Republican primary candidate and former U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, has announced her support for Donald Trump.

During an event in Washington, Haley harshly criticized the Biden administration, describing it as «a catastrophe.»

According to polls, Trump is leading Biden in some key swing states.

On Wednesday, former U.S. Republican presidential primary candidate Nikki Haley announced she will vote for Trump in November.

He was her main rival in the primaries.

Haley spoke at a think tank event in Washington

She emphasized that, although Trump is not «perfect,» the policies of the current president, Democrat Joe Biden, have been «a catastrophe.»

«I put my priorities on a president who’s going to have the backs of our allies and hold our enemies to account.»

She added that she wants, «A president who would support capitalism and freedom, a president who understands we need less debt not more debt.»

«Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I’ve made that clear, many, many times. But Biden has been a catastrophe,» she went on.

Haley, 52, withdrew from the Republican primary race on March 5.

What’s next for Trump?

When Nikki Haley said she would be voting for Trump in a speech in Charleston, South Carolina, she emphasized that it is now up to him.

She said the he must «earn the votes of those inside and outside our party who did not support him.»

«I  stand by what I said in my suspension speech. Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me,» she went on.

«And I genuinely hope he does that,» she reiterated on Wednesday.

It all comes down to November

Nikki Haley’s exit from the Republican primary means that Trump will be the nominee.

He will face off against President Biden in November.

The Republican candidate is leading in early polling in key swing states.
