The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued alerts about two possible cyclonic formations that could affect parts of the Caribbean and Central America in the coming days.

Disturbance 2, located in the southwestern Caribbean Sea, is associated with a broad area of low pressure generating rain and thunderstorms.

According to the NHC, although the system is not well organized yet, there is a low 20% chance of tropical cyclone development in the next 48 hours.

If the system continues moving northwest and stays over water, it could strengthen.

Regardless of its development, the system is expected to bring heavy rainfall to parts of Central America and southern Mexico later this week and into the weekend.

Meanwhile, Disturbance 1, situated east of the Leeward Islands, has a higher chance of development.

This system is associated with a trough of low pressure and has thunderstorm activity, although it remains disorganized.

The NHC alerts that the system will move west-northwest, and environmental conditions could become more favorable for development in the coming days.

The chance of formation in 48 hours is low, at 30%, but in seven days, the probability rises to 40%, suggesting it could become a tropical depression.

This would occur as it approaches the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Friday, and later the Greater Antilles over the weekend.

These NHC alerts emphasize the importance of staying updated with weather forecasts.

It’s worth noting that these systems could create hazardous conditions in areas of the Caribbean and Central America in the coming days.
