Myrna García Lemmons was seriously injured in a shooting that killed her daughter, Victoria Thomas. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) revealed details of the brutal crime perpetrated by Myrna’s son-in-law, Christopher Thomas, in Canton, Georgia.
Mrs. Myrna García Lemmons, 68 years old and originally from Puerto Rico, is one of the pillars in the development of the Hispanic community in Georgia. She has served in organizations, such as the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she left her mark for her leadership and dedication to service.

According to the CCSO, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 9:45 p.m., authorities received a call to respond to a domestic violence incident involving a shooting at 200 Autumn Brook Drive in Canton, Georgia.
When officers arrived at the scene they found a woman identified as Victoria Thomas, 30, who had already died after being shot. Mrs. Myrna García Lemmons was also very badly injured in the shooting and she was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

CCSO agents discovered that Mrs. Myrna García Lemmons was holding her four-month-old grandson on her lap when she was shot. Miraculously, the baby, son of Victoria Thomas, was not injured in the shooting. Another child was also in the house and was not injured.
In the preliminary investigation of the case, detectives determined, thanks to witnesses, that the alleged attacker of Myrna García Lemmons and Victoria Thomas was 30-year-old Christopher Thomas. Victoria Thomas was married to Christopher Thomas but they did not live together.
Christopher Thomas escapes from the crime scene
That fateful Sunday night, Christopher Thomas arrived at the house of his mother-in-law, Myrna García Lemmons, late at night and, for some unknown reason, started shooting killing his wife and critically injuring his mother-in-law.
After committing the crime, Christopher Thomas escaped from the scene presumably in a black KIA 900. For almost 24 hours after the crime, the Thomas was the most wanted person in Cherokee County and surrounding areas of Georgia.
Thomas takes his own life
The case turned upside down on Monday, May 23, 2022 when CCSO detectives found Christopher Thomas’s black KIA 900 on Due West Road in Kennesaw, Georgia. However, authorities were unable to locate the suspect in the vicinity of the car.
Around 6:00 p.m. that Monday officers found Christopher Thomas badly injured in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Paulding County, after a suicide attempt. Authorities took him to a hospital where doctors were unable to save his life.
